A different problem from the east coast
Naples sits on the Gulf side of Collier County, and the difficulty here is not traffic — it is distance and thin supply. Collier is geographically large and sparsely served outside the coastal strip. Patients in Golden Gate Estates, Immokalee or Everglades City can be forty minutes or more from the nearest psychiatric provider taking new patients, and the choice narrows further if you need someone accepting your insurance.
That matters more than it sounds. A 2022 study of psychiatric outpatient availability found only 18.5% of psychiatrists were accepting new patients at all. When the pool near you is already small, an 18.5% acceptance rate can mean nobody available within an hour's drive.

Collier has an older population than most Florida counties and a substantial part-year one, and both create the same problem: care that stops and restarts.
Psychiatric medication management is unusually sensitive to that. It depends on someone knowing what was tried, at what dose, what side effects appeared and what happened when something changed. Restart that history from scratch each season and the second attempt often repeats the first.
Telehealth holds the thread. Provided you are physically located in Florida at the time of each appointment, the same clinician follows your care through the year rather than picking it up cold. If you spend months out of state, raise it at the first appointment — prescribing depends on where you are during the visit, not where you live, and it is far easier to plan around than to discover mid-treatment.
Age, medication and careful prescribing
A meaningful share of Naples patients are older adults, and psychiatric prescribing in later life needs more care rather than less. Interactions with cardiac, blood pressure and diabetes medications matter. So does kidney and liver function. Oscar, Cigna and Aetna are accepted. Collier has a high proportion of Medicare-age residents, and it is worth being clear: Horizon does not bill Medicare. If Medicare is your primary coverage, self-pay is the route, and the fees are published rather than quoted on request.

What you may be wondering.
Do you take Medicare in Naples? No. Horizon accepts Oscar, Cigna and Aetna, and offers self-pay. If Medicare is your primary insurance, the published self-pay rates apply — $230 for the initial evaluation and $100 for follow-ups, with no referral required.
How far in advance do I need to book? Availability varies, but telehealth typically means a shorter wait than an in-person practice in the same area. The 2022 study above found a median wait of 67 days for an in-person appointment against 43 days by telepsychiatry, and that gap tends to be wider in counties with fewer local providers.
Can I see someone if I live in Golden Gate Estates or Immokalee? Yes. Because appointments are by secure video, distance from Naples itself makes no difference. You need to be physically located somewhere in Florida at the time of the visit.
Is online psychiatric care suitable for older adults? It can be, and often removes a real barrier for people who no longer drive comfortably. The main requirement is a private space and a device with a camera. Where in-person assessment or bloodwork is needed, you will be told and directed appropriately rather than managed remotely regardless.
